2020 Wesak Message from Sayadaw Pannananda
Dear Devotees and Dhamma Friends!
On this auspicious Vesak Day, I wish you and your family to be safe, well, happy and live with ease in your daily life.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year, we could not gather together and worship Lord Buddha on Vesak Day. But it doesn't mean that we could not honor the Blessed One in our hearts as one community.
I would like to encourage each and every one of you to continue doing wholesome practices of Dana, Sila and Bhavana on this Buddha Day with all your hearts remembering the attributes of Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha.
May all suffering beings be free from suffering.
May all fear-struck beings be free from fear.
May all grief-stricken beings be free from grief.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!
With Metta,
Sayadaw U Pannananda

2020 Wesak Message from MBMC President
Wesak Message
(BE 2564; AD2020)
With folded hands, I revere the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha.
Brothers and Sisters in the Dhamma,
I would like to wish everybody “Happy Wesak”. This year the Wesak Celebration will be very special. Traditionally MBMC celebrates Wesak by performing Dana (generosity), Sila (precepts) and Bhavana (meditation). Every year, around an average of one hundred devotees pledge to donate blood to save lives. Some offer food and requisites to the sangha. Some stay in for short retreats to observe eight precepts and practise Vipassana meditation in order to gain panna (wisdom).
However, because of Covid – 19 pandemic, everyone of us has to abide by the law, the Movement Control Order (MCO), to stay safely at home except for the frontliners who have to work tirelessly day and night to save those who are down with Covid-19. We are still not yet allowed to have a large congregation of devotees to celebrate this auspicious occasion. We might feel that something is missing. However, it is actually a blessing in disguise. We are away from the hustle and bustle of our daily life before the MCO. The Buddha always encouraged us to practise bhavana. So, the lockdown period is the best opportunity for us to stay safely with mindfulness.
Shall we chant and observe at least the five precepts at 8am on Wesak day, meditate and share the punna (merits) to all beings and with the power of our punna accrued, wish for the end of the pandemic and for the well-being of human and all beings in this world.
May everyone of us be well, happy and peaceful.
May all beings be well, happy and peaceful.
May the Covid-19 pandemic end soon.
Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu.

Tan Ah Huat
